1. Service Overview

The literacy intervention programme provides targeted support for pupils with literacy difficulties including teaching sessions, and progress monitoring, as agreed with the commissioning school.

2. Booking and Agreement

All services must be agreed in advance via the Application Form and Booking Form available on the Strides Literacy Website, or by request. This includes the number of sessions, duration, fees, and start date.

3. Fees and Payment

Fees will be agreed prior to commencement. Invoices will be issued and are payable as per the payment schedule outlined below. Late payments may result in suspension of services.

Payment Schedule:

  1. Invoice for DPS sent when date agreed for screening to take place. Payment should be made by the beginning of the w/c the screening session to secure your booking. Non-payment of the invoice will cause the DPS session to be cancelled.
  2. Once the DPS has taken place and you have booked your chosen course, you will receive an invoice for 25% of the course price. This should be paid as soon as possible. On receipt of payment, you will be contacted to arrange lesson scheduling and the individualised lesson plans will be created by the specialist teacher.
  3. Once the course has begun, a final invoice for the remainder of the course balance will need to be paid no later than 3 weeks from the start of the learner's course.

If it is not possible to meet the payment schedule for any reason, please contact hello@stridesliteracy.co.uk to let us know you require a modified payment date. Thank you.

5. Attendance and Pupil Engagement

The school is responsible for ensuring pupils attend sessions on time and are appropriately supported. Please see the Absence, Cancellation and Refund Policy below for unplanned absences.

6. Safeguarding and Conduct

All work will be carried out in line with current safeguarding requirements. The school retains overall responsibility for pupil welfare while sessions are delivered on site. Compliance and Safeguarding Verification Summary document provided on request.

7. Additional Needs

If the learner is required to have 1:1 support during their sessions with the specialist teacher, and that person, or a suitable proxy, is unavailable, the lesson may be cancelled without refund. It is the school's responsibility to ensure all additional and relevant medical needs are communicated clearly to the specialist teacher.

8. Confidentiality and Data Protection

All pupil information will be treated as confidential and handled in accordance with data protection regulations. Only the learner's first name or initials and year group are used in the data collected. Other personal details are not used to refer to the learner when describing lessons (e.g. the child's full name and school name). Reports will be shared only with relevant school staff unless otherwise agreed. The teaching specialist will have up to date GDPR Awareness training. Please see Compliance and Safeguarding Verification Summary document for details.

9. Reporting and Communication

Progress updates and reports will be provided as agreed. Communication with designated staff will be made via email to ensure effective intervention. Other communication can be sought via email request and conducted at a mutually convenient time.

10. Resources and Environment

The school will provide a suitable space for teaching:

iPad use: The school will either provide the learner with an iPad which has full access to www.wordwall.net, or allow the child to use the iPad provided by the specialist teacher.

11. Termination of Services

Either party may terminate the agreement with 3 weeks written notice. If the client cancels, any sessions already scheduled for the remainder of the course will be charged at 50% and any remaining balance refunded. If the specialist teacher cancels, any sessions already scheduled for the remainder of the course will be refunded in full.

12. Liability

All reasonable care will be taken in delivering the service. However, responsibility for overall educational outcomes remains with the school.


Absence, Cancellation and Refund Policy

Every effort is made to ensure pupils receive their full allocation of sessions across the academic year. However, where sessions are missed, the following terms apply:

1. School Communication

The school must inform the teacher of any known pupil absence as soon as possible. Where insufficient notice is given, the full session fee may be charged.

2. Illness and Unavoidable Absence

If a pupil is unable to complete a session (e.g. due to illness during the session), the remaining time will be made up at a mutually agreed time.

4. End-of-Year or Unrecoverable Sessions

Where sessions cannot be delivered due to absence at the end of a programme and there is no opportunity to reschedule:

5. Non-Notification or Administrative Oversight

Where sessions are missed due to the school not informing the teacher of known absences (e.g. trips, events), or illness, no refund will be issued and the full fee will be charged.

In the event that a pupil does not complete their full booked allocation of sessions, an individual review may be undertaken to determine fair and reasonable charges based on the specific circumstances.
